Upgrades and Improvements

Posted by Jim Logue, Jr..

First of all, my prayers are with all who visit GrapeVine. I ask for your prayers as we continue to work with this site to explore its potential at helping to promote Catholic music.

Rob Ayoub, news guy for The Catholic Music Express is also an IT guy by trade. He is also now offering tech help for those of us who have questions about technology. Visit our Tech page (click on "TECH" on the menu at the top of the page) to find out more about that.

We are also continuing the tradition of reviewing CD's, DVD's, Books, and now Print Music (sheet music, hymnals, songbooks). Contact us if you have a project you wish us to review. Reviews for Advent and Christmas projects will begin in November.

Recently, I started a channel for GrapeVine on a site called Muzu.TV. I have begun adding some artist videos there. Gerard Faucheux, Nancy Krebs, and Anuna are there right now. You can visit our channel HERE.

Keep checking back for the latest upgrades as we continue to work towards our goal, promoting Catholic music and the arts.

Recently I was interviewing several artists for the Catholic Music Express, and it was mentioned by several that there are a lot of people who do not even know there is a genre of music called "Catholic music", other than what is provided at the Liturgy. Even the pastors of my own parish are hardly aware of what is out there. So we need to try to help promote Catholic music as best we can. I'd be happy to hear about some of your ideas on this. Email me at jim@gvonline.net to share your ideas on promoting Catholic music. If you have been doing so, let me know what you've done and how it's been received.

God bless!

Jim

Righteous B Improving

From PrayForTheBob.com:

When my wife, my daughter Ava, and I were with my brother Bob tonight, he stole my daughter's cat mask and put it on and paged the nurse. When the nurse buzzed the room and asked what was wrong, he told the nurse "Help me," and then she asked "what's wrong?" When he told her that he was turning into a cat and we were all laughing, we were very surpised that she did not coming running into the room.

My brother Bob is getting stronger each day and we can see that the intensive therapy he has to go through is helping him. As I posted before, he now has movement in his left arm. His left leg has gotten stronger. The therapy is really tiring and takes a lot out of Bob. When I visited Bob today he was started to get fustrated and is anxious to get out of the hospital. That being said, he is determined to get better and get stronger. We also found out that this week we will have a meeting with his doctors/therapists to talk about the Bob's therapy and his discharge from the hospital. We also found out that Bob may be able to be discharged sooner than expected (praise God). Please keep the prayers coming. The recovery process will most likely take a considerable amount of time even after discharge.

If you can, please join in praying a rosary tomorrow night at 9 PM for Bob's recovery and for his children and continued strength for his wife Kate. If you are not Catholic please consider spending a few minutes in prayer for him at 9 PM.

Good News about Righteous B

From the website PrayForTheBob.com:

Update 9/26/09

I have not updated sooner today because when I tried to log on at the hospital, I could not connect. I think the reason for this was God wasn't done working in Bob today. I just got back from the hospital and received a phone call from my Mom with some awesome news: Bob moved his left arm. As you might guess, I have tried to post what's going on while trying to be sensitive to Bob and his family privacy. I haven't written this previously, but since the third stroke, Bob hasn't really had any use of left arm/hand. Tonight my Mom was sitting with him and holding his left hand when he squeezed my Mom's hand. My Mom then asked him if he could move his left arm and he was suddenly able to do it. My Mom and Kate who are at the hospital with him almost jumped for joy. Bob has been moving it around a lot because he says he doesn't want to forget how to use it. We pray and hope this will be the first of many small miracles. Praise God.

Keep on praying and if you can, please pray for Bob in some special way tomorrow being that it is the Lord's day.

John Paul the Great, pray for Bob.

Updates on GrapeVine

By Jim Logue, Jr.

Hello!

Just a note to let you know that I'm in the process of updating the links and blogs here on GrapeVine. As you can see, the layout changed a little bit, but I am going to continue the various blogs and articles for you. I added a "TV & Movie" section for Catholic TV and special movies that are coming out.

I will be adding more content to the main page as time goes on. And don't forget to keep those new CD's and DVD's coming in! We have a number of reviews in progress, which we will be posting soon.

Also, as soon as I figure out how to do it, I'll be setting up an email signup list.

The main mission of GrapeVine remains strong, just as Susan envisioned it...to promote the best in Catholic music and the arts. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to let me know. You can email me at jim@gvonline.net with any suggestions, recommendations, and other information and content for this site.

May God bless you!

Update on Righteous B

The following is a blog post on the new website, PrayForTheB.com, posted by his brother, Andy:

Reflection 9/24/09
I haven't been to the hospital yet today, so this is a bit more of a reflection on the past week or so than an update.

Last week when this all started, we thought that Bob went to hospital with some sort of bad migrane. I remember telling someone to pray for Bob and told them what was going on, and they asked me if they had ruled out a stroke. I think I looked at him like he was a fool; I thought to myself, "A stroke? My brother is 31 and in terriffic health - that's so dumb." Sure enough, a few hours later, I got a phone call from my sister-in-law Kate, telling me that Bob had had a stroke.

I remember when I told someone about this they had told me to tell Bob not to give up; the person told me about how they had a stroke and the long process they went through to get back to health. I politely thanked that man for sharing his story, but informed him "that my brother was okay," and "that he just had a minor stroke." I was pretty sure this was going to be over in a few days. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

I also remember go into the ICU to see Bob for the first time. I was waiting for my brother Bob to jump out at say, "I got you!" and find out this is all some big, sick practical joke. But sure enough, there he was in a hospital bed.

Here's what we know about Bob- Bob had 3 strokes and the main stroke was pretty massive. Praise God that Bob's not in any immediate danger anymore of having more strokes. They've located the source of the stroke and the blood thinners should have by now broken down that clot. The parts of Bob's brain that were affected by the stroke can't heal or come back, however, what normally happens is that other parts of the brain compensate for those that are not working. Since Bob is so young and in great health, the doctors believe that Bob can make a good recovery. We know that Bob can only get better from here. That being said please realize the situation is still very serious.

Bob had 3 strokes and only time and rehab will tell exactly what comes back and what does not. This is why we continue to ask for your help in praying for Bob and for donations for his family. Thank you first of all for your prayers. Our entire family is so thankful that you would pray for Bob and his family. We are also so overwhelmed by your donations to his family. It's really amazing to see how everyone's been a part of this through their donations. Every bit helps- I've been touched by those who have given even $5 - knowing that for some people that's a sacrifice. I am reminded of the story from the Gospel of Mark of the widow who gave her last "penny" to God.

If you are reading this and don't know Bob that well, please know that Bob's never really lived his life to collect a big paycheck or been focused on money. In fact, his family of 7 lives a pretty simple life. I remember that once Bob bought a modest HDTV only to give it away a few weeks later to the poor because he and his wife thought it was too extravagant for their lifestyle. We (Bob's family) are just trying to ensure that Bob and Kate don't have to be concerned with finances for the time being while they are going through all this since Bob is self-employed.

We also know that God is in control and that God is at work even through this situation. More than anything please keep on praying.

One of the things that Bob has been repeating over and over is that "he feels really loved," and I can speak for all my family and tell you that we all feel that way.

Andy

Greetings!

Hello, Grapevine Fans!

First of all, I want to continue to encourage you to pray for Susan Bailey's Mom, as well as for Susan and her family. Families are very important, and we need to enjoy the time we have with them. My own Mom and Dad have both just turned 80 years old this year. I bought a house with them two years ago in historic Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, so that they would have a home where they can be taken care of, should they ever get to a position where they cannot take care of themselves.

Regarding Grapevine, I am honored that Susan asked me to take over. Grapevine is such an important mission for contemporary Catholic music, which is why I want to see it continue to be a platform to encourage Catholic artists, bands, and ministries. I consider it an honor to be able to be a part of Catholic music in the area of radio with the Catholic Music Express, and now with Grapevine.

I also want to thank Rob Ayoub, who has been doing the news for the Catholic Music Express for the past few months, and is now doing album reviews on the show. As you send in music for review, the reviews will be posted here on Grapevine, on Catholic.net, and at the Catholic Music Express site as well as on our weekly podcast.

Thank you in advance for your prayers, and don't forget to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory! They need our prayers desparately!

God bless!

Big Changes at GrapeVine

From the Editor:
I wanted to let you know about changes taking place at GrapeVine. Due to the declining health of my mother, I need to cut back on outside activities. GrapeVine is one of those activities. I have given to reins over to Jim Logue of the Catholic Music Express podcast. He and his assistant, Rob, will be taking care of CD reviews and all the other functions of the GrapeVine site. The site will remain the same in look and intent but they will be providing the content.

This is such a major blessing for me personally to be able to pass off GrapeVine into such capable hands. Jim's Catholic Music Express podcast will be a wonderful boost to the GrapeVine site as well.

I ask you to please refer to him at jim@gvonline.net with any news, CD review requests, etc.

Thank you for your support of GrapeVine over the years. It has been a pleasure.

Susan
